How's the ban rate nowadays?
#1
Looking to bot just my own personal account. I was here when the game first launch (if you remember my username :) ) and it was very stable/safe. Just wondering how much FFXIV has changed in the 3 years I was gone..

These are the very risky behaviors based on my experience.
  • Botting 24x7 with no breaks, regardless of what you're doing.
  • Teleporting. My accounts that have abused it seem to be OK if they're not logged in a few days prior to the ban waves that occur on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. (Your mileage may vary.)
  • Fate grinding, most notably if other botters are doing the same fates. The "escort" fates are especially good at making bots look conspicuous.
  • Gathering for long periods of time if you don't have a Discord addon to respond. Other players seem to view anyone else that is gathering as competition, and file reports if you don't respond to /say chat or direct tells.
  • Crafting the same items repeatedly for long hours, even if done in your own house/apartment.
Because the open world is so risky, it seems a lot of botters are now moving to instanced botting.  (i.e. dungeons)

All accurate. Though my rule with respects to Teleporting is to never touch it.

I stick to somewhat manageable sessions of 8 hours maximum (mixing activities up) but my understanding is that play session length doesn't matter at all.

Okay thanks. Does anyone use this for raiding?

My question is, do you get banned if nobody reports you? As in are there telltale signs that I am doing things like teleporting if I am around nobody, teleporting 5 feet upwards max, or gathering in an area with nobody around?

In some cases, yes, if they are monitoring server-side data that proves you cheated.

An example would be if you use teleporting to gather all the aether currents in an impossibly little amount of time, you'll typically get suspended on a 2nd or 3rd Wednesday.

My accounts that teleport sparingly in public spaces, or as much as I want in personal instances, are consistently OK.  (Just my experience, your mileage may vary.)  For that reason I can definitely say that teleporting isn't "detected", but what teleporting allows you to accomplish might be exposed through their server-side telemetry.
