I'm asking because at first before I actually botted in FFXIV I thought botting would be so dangerous that it's not worth the risk, but I've been botting for years on 3 accounts nonstop and I have never even gotten a warning.
I'm hitting around the 2 bil gil mark, was thinking about RMT if it's safe, but have never participated in RMT.

A few questions:
1. Is RMT for gil in FFXIV more risk than botting?
2. Do they only ban the account that traded/mailed the client the gil or do they ban an entire paper trail?
3. Any other best practices to reduce risk

Basically I'd want to make sure that my main account has no chance or the same chance of botting of being banned since I play manually/raid on it.  I'm aware, this might not even be possible though.
RMT is hit harder than botting with bans as far as i know. If you buy/sell high volumes, there will probably be increased risk over lower amounts.

This is the most recent ban wave, being the fourth one this month on the FFXIV notices:

Time Period: Nov. 16, 2017 to Nov. 22, 2017
・Participation in RMT/illicit activity
 ・Accounts receiving permanent ban: 2,362
 ・Accounts receiving temporary ban: 73
・RMT Advertising
