From looking through the quest file. it looks like it's supposed to go to this vendor.
http://xivdb.com/?npc/1003257/

and purchase some items to equip. He's failing to move at all or try to find the vendor. The area on my map where he should be is undiscovered. any ideas?

Here's the full quest:

Buy the gear yourself and change the step # in main window to advance.

Thanks, but i meant more ideas to fix the quest file so it works without manually doing stuff in game. To fix it for everybody.
you probably just lagged or something with the equip of the item. cause it works fine i just ran 4 bots through yesterday.

I've tried multiple times. tried switching manually to specific previous steps as well as completely closing the game and bot and then trying again from the start. It will not work at all for this character.

It always goes back to the same spot and spams the same NPC unable to complete it because it refuses to go find the vendor and buy the items. (No i do not have the items in my inventory at all, and as i said previously that part of my map where the vendor is located is undiscovered)

I'm not going to report something that's working, that's silly. I don't know why it's not working, maybe it's specific to the class who knows. But to just say no it works, is kind of useless.

I've left that particular character there, so it's a good debugging / test case if a dev wants to get in touch with me i'm more than happy to help them debug it. It's clearly not working in this case and reproducible if somebody wants to debug.
cause yoru at the point that to turn in the quest after you equiped the gear. you would have to go back several steps to the part of the quest that buys the gear. Just go buy the gear and equip it. it should continue on from there. like i said the part of the quest chain where the bot goes and buys the gear probably lagged and now you are several steps past it.

Even if you close the bot out and start it fresh with no quest steps etc? Doesn't that start from the beginning of the quest file and run through everything until it's where you should be ?

I've tried manually going back numerous steps and even quest objectives, no change it all ends up back in the same spot it skips through them all and arrives there again. I read the quest file and manually went back to the steps that "buy" the gear. It does not work.

So again I say. I am willing to help a dev debug this so we can get it fixed and working for everybody.

I am not going to manually do these steps, i want to preserve the bugginess so we can get it resolved.
I realized after the fact that I may have been a little unclear in my intentions.

I don't really care at all about getting my character moved past the bug, so manually performing stuff isn't an acceptable answer here. I don't even care about FFXIV at all. I bought the game for $12 on amazon and the bot with the sole purpose of testing the bot out.

My overall goal is if 1-15 is bulletproof (not right now, but if the few hiccups can be solved it's almost there) i was going to do some work on 15+.

I just want to help get 1-15 totally bulletproof in all cases then start working on new stuff, because thats why i bot generally, it's fun for me.
If the issue is what I think it is, it is not directly related to the quest. What class did you notice it on? Some of the quests may have incorrect item reward entries and/or missing some equip directives, which you would not notice until this quest since those items were not rewarded and/or not equipped after being rewarded.
I think it's on my Arcanist. I'll double check tonight though
