At this stage version 1 isnt being updated and as far as i know no way to force it to skip steps till it times out.
Version 2 is completely different.
It has objective indexes and if one of those steps fails it wont restart the quest only that portion of the quest.
If its set up right nothing will ever skip steps but there is a risk of being out of range which can be reduced by adding a range setting in that step.
