Frontlines Mesh - Complete Mesh w/ Markers
#51
Not a complaint but more curious to see what the other users are experiencing with Frontlines. I am IF so this could be different with my character but, are your characters running to the middle flag and just staying there the entire match? The only time I move away from the first flag is when I am chasing an enemy that came into my screen but has ran away.

Second question. I am relatively new to this but would it be easy enough for me to have my character path to the middle tower and stay there instead of staying at a flag? The only complaint other team mates have had with me (I've been manually monitoring my character) is that I don't go to the tower when everyone else does. I think I could remedy this by just going there instead of the flag. Any thoughts?

I am attempting to get the PVP portion of the bot to attack NPCs (nodes in the middle tower). Currently, PVP does not support attacking NPCs but the function that controls this is GetPVPTarget.

Does anyone know how I can change this to fight NPCs instead of players or at least point me in the direction so I can edit this for PVP. I'd appreciate the insight. Thanks.

Understandable. The thing is that the bot is at fault, not the mesh. It cannot be fixed, or rather it can be band-aided. I tried for a few days to make a working mesh for maelstrom, but no matter what it will get stuck on the edge at the entrance 5% of the time. I did use the guides, tried many different variations and tweeking + perfecting meshes but the problem always remains the same.
Although you can't "babysit", the least you could do is provide us an ETA on when a fix is incoming. It doesn't make sense for us to pay monthly on a broken bot that we're forced to fix ourself, now is it? :^)

Added the files into the lua, loaded it in bot
all it does is stay at the entrance of the twin adders spawning area without doing anything

I have perfected an adder's mesh and tested it for a week + 24 hours in a row. I can confirm it works 100% of the time and it will not get you stuck at the entrance. PM me or something if you're still interested in a good adder's mesh.

That's one of my complaints about the bot. It needs to be fixed so it will stay more at the flag. My character often gets complaints about not fighting or staying at the flag, and sometimes chases enemy players way too far.

For your second question, you can try placing a PVP marker right in the middle, then mess around with the timings. I'm not sure about the drone/tower timings but someone dedicated enough could make a marker list with exact timings so it would go to the middle at the right time.
Like for example, have the first mark in your list go to your OP (with 30 seconds), then second marker on your list -> go to towers/nodes and set it at 120 seconds or something. I just don't bother with it and have it on random for the 3 closest camps from the spawn point. I don't usually get complaints that way.
One thing to watch out for is I've noticed the bot often gets stuck trying to go up that tower, at like the first corner. Tried to remove a bit of mesh there but it changes nothing.

Should work if you modify your skill profile. Instead of having it attack a "player", change it to "target" maybe? And maybe make use of the mob ID so you can specify exactly which target the bot will hit. That + a marker there should work.

This is always such an odd complaint to me. It's the equivalent of buying Microsoft Office, and then blaming Microsoft that everything you write in Word comes out sounding like gibberish. Meshes are a user tool and all that needs to be done to fix it is a properly placed off mesh connection. If, after all is said and done, you still have some 5% problem, well that's just the way it goes sometimes. If you participate in 95 games out of 100, that's still 95 more games than the 0 you would've taken place in without the bot.

I do not intend on doing anything else for Frontlines anytime soon. There is really nothing in it for me. Personally, I ranked up from 40-45 in Wolves Den in less than 24 hours. Frontlines is not botter friendly. Never was, probably never will be. I know that some people prefer it and have to use it since they are very private and/or don't have 4 bots or any friends on the server, etc.

It's also sort of interesting that you would like to take advantage of people offering donations for simply modifying something I created while at the same time insinuating that you're owed something more than you're currently receiving. Maybe I should pre-fund all of my future user requests and new modes and updated abilities with user donations before I release them in the future also?

I think because of my Developer tag, everybody is under a false assumption that I'm some sort of equity partner in minion, when in fact I'm just a user like you guys with a fancy tag for my countless contributions.

If anyone cares I moved around some coding to have the bot attack nodes in the middle. I'll post the .lua here if anyone wants it.

However, I think I may be done with Frontlines. There has not been a day that people don't try to kick me from the match. Reading through the chat log one guy called me out before every match. Too few people do frontlines so you will be allied with the same people every time. I wish Wolves Den still existed but at this rate I'll be banned before I get my PVP gear.

I've been doing it 3 days non-stop and have only gained 7 levels. I'd need 10 more for the first ilvl100 gear. That's a week alone. A week of getting called out multiple times a day is not worth it.

This is the main reason I was drawn to minion, I won't be quitting because I have found so many other great uses for the bot, but if you want to keep your character don't do frontlines.

Called out for doing what exactly? I did some as both DPS/Healer, I've noticed I get called out more often on healer than a DPS/tank (until I changed the skillprofile to prioritize heals/regens/SS over anything else). The only reason people get suspicious is that you go with the wrong group at the start. Like if you're on A, you're expected to go left and not right. Same thing with B, you go mid camp; C you go right camp. If the bot could detect which party group you're in and make it so you can choose which camp to go at depending on group letter, than I don't think anyone will notice anything.

As it stands right now, it can be very bot-able if you monitor it and play as a melee DPS with a self-fixed mesh and jump points. No one will know the difference if you have a good skill profile too.

What pisses me off a little is the skillprofiles have been semi-broken ever since the 2.4 patch. I can't change the "target/player" thing to tell it to attack players only instead of a NPC target. The only fix I've found for this is to take a dummy profile from someone and just copy pasting if it has either "target" or "player" in it. And I'm not used to opening .lua files to modify those directly.

Says the guy with a "donate" button at the bottom of every post he makes :^).
Look dude, we really appreciate what you've done so far. I just started with a simple question to know whether or not the PVP was going to be worked upon.
And I wouldn't say I'm taking advantage of people, as it did take me a week or so to fix this damn adders mesh and test it to see it work perfectly. I'm not as unselfish as you are apparently :^)

You're right, you're not nearly as unselfish as me, considering I spend no less than 20 hours a week improving the bot for the entire community, while having received less than $20 in lifetime donations. The link is there because my time justifies it, not because I expect it. That is also the reason it is a small insignificant graphic.

Also, you're misunderstanding what "player/target" is used for. Player is the API term for "self". Target is the API term for "currently selected target". Other players in the consideration of PvP are no different than regular mob targets and require no special conditional requiring them to be attacked.

i would have no problem donating to the pvp, as i pay for the bot already. but i would pay $20 easy if pvp fro frontlines would work, i dont want 8 account or 8 bots to manage. $20 to the person who gives me a working correctly Malestrom navmesh!!!! im not joking $20 is alot to me, my friend just said he would double it, so there is that enough incentive to help?

TBH I thought you were a partner in the project just because of your involvement with the bot / on the forums. *Slow Clap* for the amount of effort you put in and for sharing it with the community
